Natural Liver Detoxification Cleanse

Liver detoxification, using a natural liver detoxification formula and a liver cleansing diet, will promote improved function of this complex organ.

Detoxification of the liver will in turn result in the enhanced function of other organ systems.

It has been estimated that 50% of people over the age of 50 have the condition known as 'Fatty Liver'.

Other dysfunctions and diseases of the liver include alcoholic cirrhosis, hepatitis, liver parasites, liver cancer, and other chronic liver diseases.

The liver is the major fat-burning organ in the body. A liver detoxification program should be a prime component of any weight loss program - preceded by a colon-parasite cleanse.

Liver Functions

The liver has an important role in most metabolic processes, particularly detoxification.

liver gallbladder flush
  • It acts as a blood purifier by filtering about 2 quarts of blood a minute. When working properly, the liver clears bacteria and other toxins before the blood re-enters the general circulation.
  • The liver neutralizes harmful chemical compounds using a two-step enzymatic process.

Acting as a detoxifier, it breaks down or transforms metabolic waste, drugs, alcohol, and other toxins, preparing them for excretion from the body, mainly through the intestines and kidneys. Many of these toxins come from our environment - the types of food choices we make, the quality of the water we drink, airborne pollutants that we breathe, and toxic by-products from our bowels.

  • The liver produces and secretes about a quart of bile a day, which is stored in the gallbladder until needed. Bile carries toxic substances to the intestines, where it is absorbed by fiber and eliminated from the body. A low fiber diet can mean many of these toxins don't bind well to feces and can be reabsorbed into the system.

Bile also emulsifies fats and fat-soluble vitamins in food, improving their absorption in the intestines.

Other liver functions:

  • stores glucose in the form of glycogen - which is re-converted back into glucose when needed for energy
  • important in the metabolism of protein and fats
  • stores vitamins A, D, K, B12, and folate (folic acid)
  • synthesizes blood-clotting factors
  • produces cholesterol and triglycerides

The process of holistic detoxification systematically supports each major organ involved in detoxifying and eliminating metabolic and environmental toxins in our bodies.

The Renew Life Liver Detox program is an excellent liver detoxification formula. It consists of liver detoxification herbs and other nutraceuticals specific for promoting healthy liver function and cleansing.

The more concentrated formula, Extra Care Liver Support, contains a higher amount of Milk Thistle extract (silymarin). The American Journal of Gastroenterology published a clinical review of Milk Thistle and found that it may be effective in improving many liver diseases, including hepatitis induced by viruses, toxins, drugs and alcohol.

The gall bladder cleanse, or liver-gallbladder flush, can be started once you've been doing the liver detox program for a couple of weeks.

Sandra Cabot, MD, also called 'The Liver Doctor', is a specialist on liver health and has written the book The Liver Cleansing Dietliver-cleansing-diet. She has helped many people reverse liver disease and related health problems with the simple principles of nutritional medicine.

In the following interesting videos, Dr Cabot clearly and simply explains the functions of the liver, health issues and symptoms associated with a dysfunctional liver, and suggestions for liver detoxification and reversal of liver disease.
